Dir En Grey: Japanese Hard-Rockers Ready for House of Blues

By Randy J. Klodz

Japanese hard-rock band Dir En Grey hits the tour circuit hard each of the last ten years, and anticipation for the band has spread like wildfire across North America. Chicago-area fans can set sights—and ears—on Dir En Grey when the band performs live at Chicago’s House of Blues on Feb. 13.

Dir En Grey—which includes Kyo (vocals), Die and Kaoru (guitars), Toshiya (bass) and Shinya (drums)—is on tour in support of the band’s latest album “The Marrow of a Bone,” which is slated to hit stores

Although a full track listing for the album was not available at press time, a full listen to the album shows indicates that fans of hard-rock will enjoy each second of “The Marrow of a Bone” and many fans will soon gravitate to this band.

While most of Kyo’s vocals are in Japanese, North American hard-rock fans are sure to head-bang along with each second. Thousands of American fans have already witnessed Dir En Grey perform live on tour with veterans Korn and thousands more are sure to follow.

House of Blues is at 329 N. Dearborn St. Tickets for this all-ages show are listed for $27.50 each with showtime slated for 6 p.m. Fellow rock bands Fair to Midland and Bleed the Dream are also scheduled to perform. For more info on Dir En Grey log on to www.direngrey.co.jp.
