Gomez and Ben Kweller to Invade Vic Theatre

By Randy J. Klodz

Acclaimed English rock band Gomez is ready to display its latest set of tunes as part of a co-headlining tour with fellow rocker and labelmate Ben Kweller. This highly anticipated tour is prepared to take residence at Chicago’s Vic Theatre March 1 and March 2.

Gomez—which includes Ian Ball (vocals, guitar), Ben Otto well (vocals, guitar), Tom Gray (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Paul Blackburn (bass) and Olly Peacock (drums)—is on tour in support of the band’s latest album “How We Operate,” which hit stores last May.

Fans got their first tastes of Gomez when songs like “Liquid Skin” and “Split the Difference” with the band gaining critical acclaim and an underground following that, although took several years, is starting to explode out into the open.

The title track for “How We Operate” has given the band its largest glimpse of commercial airplay and has even earned a spin in ABC’s hit drama “Grey’s Anatomy.”

Vic Theatre is at 3145 N. Sheffield Ave. Tickets for each of these shows are listed for $28.50 each with showtime slated for 7:30 p.m. The March 1 show is 18+ and March 2 is an all-ages gig. For more info on Gomez log on to www.gomeztheband.com.
