Korn Returns to Family Values

By Randy J. Klodz

With the shine of the summer sun comes yet another installation of the annual Family Values Tour. This year, with hard-rock act Korn headlining the hard-hitting bill, Chicago’s prepared for the tour to hit the local area on July 22 at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre.

Korn’s ready to tour with a lineup that’s scheduled to include Jonathan Davis (vocals), James “Munky” Shaffer (guitar), Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu (bass) and Joey Jordison (drums). Jordison, Slipknot’s drummer, is planned to fill in for Korn’s longtime drummer David Silveria.

Korn is on the road in support of its upcoming, yet untitled album, which is slated to hit stores nationwide July 31. Fans across the nation have taken to the album’s first single, “Evolution” and Korn faithful continue to crank the band’s previous work through the loud speakers.

Korn started to draw fans by the thousands when the self-titled debut hit the streets in 1994 and hit songs like “Ball Tongue,” “Blind” and “Shoots and Ladders” caught on like wildfire. Many fans point to Korn and fellow California natives Deftones for starting the hard-rock movement that swept through the 1990s.

Other Korn tracks like “Freak on a Leash” and “Got the Life” from the popular album “Follow the Leader” catapulted the band into stardom with platinum albums and sold-out tours. Other songs like “A.D.I.D.A.S.” and “Falling Away From Me” are also Korn fan favorites.

First Midwest Amphitheatre is at 19100 S. Ridgeland Ave. in south-suburban Tinley Park. Joining Korn on stage are scheduled acts Evanescence, Atreyu, Flyleaf, HELLYEAH, and several others. Tickets for this all-ages show are listed for $9.99-$59.50 each with showtime slated for 2:30 p.m. For more info on Korn log on to www.korn.com.
