By Randy J. Klodz

The buzz for rock band Lola Ray is starting to strengthen with Fuse and MTV spins of the band’s first single “Automatic Girl.” With that in the past, the band will hit the road in support of new tunes. Lola Ray will open for local rockers Lucky Boys Confusion at Chicago’s Beat Kitchen on June 24.

Lola Ray--which includes John Balicanta (vocals, guitar), Brian Spina (bass), James McIvor (bass) and Alex Smolenski (drums)--is on tour in support of its upcoming album “Liars,” which is prepared to hit stores Aug. 8. However, fans can currently purchase the album in advance exclusively from the band’s Web site.

Lola Ray’s sound is sure to catch the attention of fans of indie rock. Catchy songs include “Crumble,” “Officer & A Gentleman” and “Quiet Voices.”

Highlight tracks like “Beautiful Boy” and “We’re Not Having Fun” give “Liars” a firm foundation, while the melodic “This House” also shines with the angelic backing vocals of singer Jung Kim.

Beat Kitchen is at 2100 W. Belmont Ave. Tickets for this all-ages show are listed for $15 each with showtime slated for 5 p.m. For more info on Lola Ray log on to www.lolaray.com.
