Marilyn Manson To Play Allstate Arena with Slayer
By Randy J. Klodz
Love him or hate him, Marilyn Manson, with years of success, has become one
of rock’s brightest icons. The controversial hard-rocker brings his show,
along with fellow head-bangers Slayer. in what is sure to be one of the most
explosive shows of the summer when the tour hits Allstate Arena on Aug. 13.
Always one to turn a head, controversy and mystique follow Marilyn Manson,
and his often-changing lineup, like the plague. What’s often lost in the headlines
and protests is the music.
Now on tour in support of “Eat Me, Drink Me,” the band’s latest effort, and
its singles “Heart-Shaped Glass“ and “Putting Holes in Happiness,” Marilyn
Manson returns to the road in what is sure to be yet another sold-out tour.
The album, with its dark feel and imagery listens more as a love soundtrack
than it does a hard-hitting rock anthem album that is dare it be said: surprising,
yet appraisingly charming?
In a career peppered by the negativity of many media outlets, both as a band
and as a persona, Marilyn Manson has hit it big with tracks like “The Beautiful
People,” “Disposable Teens,” “Rock is Dead,” “Tourniquet” and many others.
Marilyn Manson also swings for the fences with cover songs such as Depeche
Mode’s “Personal Jesus,” Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” and
Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love.”
Allstate Arena is at 6920 N. Mannheim Rd. in suburban Rosemont. Tickets for
this all-ages show are listed for $41-$49.50 each with showtime slated for
7 p.m. For more info on Marilyn Manson log on to www.marilynmanson.com.
